At Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 2:43 pm IST on 22 JULY 2019 (GSLV Mk III) was launched and was a proud day for all my fellow Indians.The pragyan rover will land on the moon on 7 SEPTEMBER 2019 (planned) and do its exploration . here are some amazing facts about Chandrayaan 2.
- A successful Chandrayaan 2 mission will make India only the forth nation in the world to land a probe on moon after US , Russia and China.
- Chandrayaan 2 will go to unexplored south pole region of the moon.
- it aims to understand solar system history by exploring untouched fossilised records in the region.
- GSLV Mk-III which will carry chandrayaan 2 is India’s most powerful launcher to date.
- mission life of the orbiter is a year:it will be placed in 100 X 100 km lunar polar orbit.
- Vikram, Chandrayaan 2 lander is designed to function for 1 lunar day which is equivalent to about 14 Earth days.
- Soft landing will be the most challenging ,in what is dubbed by isro as 15 terrifying minutes.
- Pragyan rover , a 6-wheeled robotic vehicle which can travel up to 500 m and leverages solar energy for its functioning is spectacular.
- estimated travel time will be around 3 weeks covering 384,400 km .
- Almost entire Chandrayaan 2 is designed and made in India.
